Ready to BUY~

Looking at a 2012 Focus Hatchback AT. The magazines all liked the car, but some consumer groups are reporting the reliability as BELOW AVERAGE. Thats the last thing I need. Does the group think the main issue is the A/T woes? If so, they evidently seem to work themselves out. Anyone got some REAL HIGH MILEAGE on their dual clutch AT's? Are these going to be good for say 200k miles? Are their any other 'real' issues besides the tranny that would make consumers rate them as below average in reliability?

I really need your feedback here! Is the sister Mazda 3 more reliable?

The 2 main complaints are with the transmission and the MFT system. There are some people on here that have said their trans problems get better over time, but you can just do a search of this forum and see the pages of discussion about it. Personally I believe this forum saved me a big headache; I was going to purchase a dct until I read about all the issues. I ended up buying a stick and love it!

Moved this to "Ford Focus & General Car Chat" since "General Technical Chat" is the place to discuss if you have any problems with your vehicle. And the subject you are wanting information on can be better answered here.

Not everyone has the issues and the issues I experience are so small I don't mind them. I love my SEL with the MFT and automated Manual tranny.

I personally have not had any issues with my DCT. I would agree that the automated manual gets better over time. MFT takes getting used to, but is good IMO. My wife and I have used our car for over 1 year (25,000Km).
