BTW, I just sold a 02 base model (LX) with 80k miles, rebuilt the motor/new head, needed shocks, had the famous engine vibration crap, dents, dings, scratches, and still got $3500 for it, I have a 01 SE in super clean condition that I am going to sell for $4000 once I get it done in about a week, I bought it for $1000 (yes I know on the high side), the block was cracked, local pick a part salvage yards had none, found a 02 escort (same block different head) but it needs the block bored over, dropped it off today and order pistons, etc, still selling it at $4000 I will make a nice $2k on it. I love doing this stuff so time/labor is not a issue for me.

not too bad. And I'd just kind of flush it out.

I was going to say, you could take my path after the seat dropped on mine. I've owned it without an engine longer than I have with!
