best tips since you have never done this before:

1 - practice on other items before attempting to do this on your car

or

2 - don't do it at all. Painted interiors don't usually look that good anyway. A clean interior is far more impressive than one covered in paint

I'd recommend not sanding and using plasti dip as the primer. If you end up unhappy with the finished product now, or years down the road - you can just peel it off.
