I found this video that does a pretty good job of showing the basic process for replacing the front springs on a Mazda3 which should be very similar to the Focus. There are lots of videos for the Mazda3 strut replacement which is the same process to replace the springs.

I started the front, and honestly the removal of the strut isn't hard. I'm just caught up on the stupid damn hat. It requires a 5mm allen and an 18mm, but mine is torqued on there. I need another set of hands to be able to proceed I think, so I guess I'll wait a few hours.
I also had to use a spacer to get the damn spring compressor to compress enough. It's not proper I'm sure, but I didn't have much choice.
