Why would you need resistors for a headlamp bulb ?

They are less wattage than a standard halogen bulb. This will cause a bulb out error or possibly flickering.

Ok I can maybe understand a bulb out error, although I'd be surprised if something pulling 22 watts would cause it. It would be very easy to confirm that by building a pretend LED bulb with a 25 watt 7 ohm resistor.

The flickering makes no sense. What would cause the bulb to flicker ?

Just received my shipping notification. Hopefully have them by friday for the weekend to try out. After looking through multiple forums on these, I found another website that sells them as well. http://www.philipshidkits.com/h8-rsi...onversion-kit/ Also another forum http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...ight-FoglLight They talk about the heat dissipation not being enough. So I'm going to not get my hopes up too much. Looks like if they wont work for headlights, I have an expensive LED fog light setup.

From my understanding, the way the 12's and 13's work (and most newer cars) they send a small signal to the headlights to power them all, if the ECU detects the wrong power usage its sends a bulb out error and powers off the light. When using HID's and this LED kit that are rated below our normal wattage usage, after the bulb out error comes on and the power is killed to the headlight, there isn't enough power to keep the ballast powered on. In comes the use of resistors. They trick the ECU into thinking the bulb is using the full wattage. Which means no bulb out error as well as full power to light. Again thats my understanding so if I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

Your explanantion makes sense. Good luck with the experiment and let us know how you get on. I have a friend with a 2012 Focus and he was interested in trying LED headlights at some point.

Just checked the tracking number, and these are schedule for delivery tomorrow. Looks like rain headed my way tomorrow and don't really have a garage space to install so hopefully it holds off long enough to test them out. Will try and get pictures of before and after as well.

Couldn't find anything on YouTube. But I did find some information, pictures, review etc on a FT86 forum.
