Sirius antenna on a 2012 SEL?

HI everyone,
Is there a standard Sirius antenna on a 2012 SEL or was it part of the Sony Radio package? I suppose that the antenna is already on the car to save some cost for the radio upgrade.
I would want, if possible, to use the existing car antenna (with some wire splicing) for my portable Sirius receiver. That would save me from installing the mobile antenna each time I use my Sirius.

If there is an antenna, did someone identify witch wire it was?

Thanks

I'm not sure if this answers your question .. but I found this on ebay:

My car didn't come with it. Does it come with the audio package? I do have Sirius 6-month because I have the 201A pacakge.
My problem is my sirius signal randomly cuts out for a couple seconds at a time, some times. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my antenna, wiring, etc, or if it's just like that because it is only a free 6-month.

So if I buy this "sirius sharkfin antenna" will it improve my sirius signal?

more generally speaking, what can I do to boost my sirius signal in the car?

Thanks.

The satellite antenna is the base portion of the antenna. It looks like this-

As for improving reception, I don't think it's possible. Satellite reception is near vertical, unlike radio which is horizontal. Trees, buildings, bridges, even clouds will effect reception. The OEM antenna is located in about the best possible place for minimal interference.

As for which wire the base is, I am unsure. Hopefully an audiophile can jump in here with that info.

hmm maybe I should mention my sirius cut-outs to my dealer. maybe they can check it.
But, will a "shorty" antenna have any negative affects on reception? I'm guessing not since the oem antenna is pretty short already.

The short antenna has no effect on sirius. Mine destroyed my fm reception, but I only listen to sirius so it's no big deal.

It definitely won't hurt to have your dealer look at it because warranty

Cool SEL SAT converted ... Almost

I started out with my 2012 SEL having a Sirius card in the glove box but the Sirius selection greyed out on the menu. Then being told my car was not equipped with Sirius. I called numerous dealerships, and no one could tell me anything. So here is what I did. I bought a complete used factory stereo from a 2013 Focus on ebay. I got the screen, radio, and complete bezel/plastic with vents, buttons ect. all for $100 with free shipping. I installed everything this evening. It only took about 20 minutes.

The good news: I have a satellite radio in the car. It's not greyed out any more and unlike the original stereo I have a button the reads "SIRIUS". I maintained all previous functionality including SYNC, phone, USB ect... I have multiple selectable items under the SIRUIS menu (SAT 1 through 3).

The bad news: There wasn't a wire for the satellite antenna. So, the yellow jack where you hook up the antenna is not connected at the moment.

My car's antenna looks just like the picture posted prior to this. What can I do to get an antenna hooked up to finish my endeavor? I'd like to keep it factory, but at this point, I guess I would be fine with hooking up an aftermarket antenna. Thanks ya'll!!!

So I write a Ford person on Facebook today and ask about the SAT Antenna wire.. Here is what I get back... HAHA I am convinced that Ford really doesn't care if you get anything working after the sale...

"I'm glad you're enjoying making some modifications to your vehicle so it's perfect for you! However, as I mentioned, I don't have access to the information you are seeking. Your Ford dealership is in the best position to assist you with technical questions about your vehicle. As a general rule, we don't recommend such modifications as they may affect warranty for specific components.

I apologize that I can't be of more assistance to you, but wish you the best of luck!"

Worthless...
