2012 exterior paint

has anyone noticed the paint on their car looks like little dot's of surface rust in the paint even on the abs plastic. now i know plastic don't rust, the car is 1yr old and i wash it pretty regular. any idea's what it could be

Likely fallout and accumulation from driving it in winter. It's especially visible on white cars. A clay bar will clean it off.

iron deposits can be found in tap water. power lines too.

I have the same issue, especially on the door sill (is that what you call it?). I used a clay bar and issue gone. :)

If you get little rust spots that the clay bar doesn't get off, it could be from salt trucks. They add abrasives to the salt to break up the ice on the roads to help it melt faster. It hit my GTI pretty hard when I had it. I took it to the dealer and they said some places actually use tiny pieces of steel. Also heard things from rocks to sand being added.

i find a weekly or so wash combined w/ keeping it waxed and using meguiers ultimate detailer after each wash keeps the dots, bugs and other stuff from sticking to the paint surface.
