My ST was Ford Factory Driven prior to delivery

Ford took my ST3 for a 21 mile test drive (a "test drive" sticker next to my window sticker with hand-written mileage notified me of this) before delivering it to my dealer, at which point it showed 24 miles on the odo. My car has been near perfect and the performance is as expected. My car has been driven 7100 miles since 11/8/2012.

My questions are:
How many of our cars were pre-driven by the factory?

Do the tested cars perform better/worse than the non-tested?

What does Ford check on these drives and do they give the cars a thrashing?

They're selected at random for quality control. Every so often we get one in at our dealer with the same sticker stating it was tested.

As for what they do, I can't answer that.

They should perform the same. I'm sure it's just a longer road test, maybe around their test track, to test the car in different conditions for quality control.

it's their job to do a road test where they take them out on public roads. They don't have a test track at the plant. Yes it's their job to do random testing on vehicles. from what i remember they look them over with a check list, then drive them listening for squeaks, rattles, and other various noises that might be found. while driving they're trying to also find problems that might be found only while driving a car. If they find a problem they try and make certain there's not a production problem. remember there's many people, parts, tools, automation that goes into building a vehicle so all these have variances. humans make mistakes, machines and tools in time wear and need maintenance. there's many inspection points to try and be certain a quality product is delivered.
