Has anyone installed an HDMI port?

I have MFT and the component ports in the center console. Has anyone successfully replaced these with an HDMI port? Or maybe just connected an HDMI to RCA converter box and displayed it on the screen? I'd like to replace the ports and also install the bypass for the speed sensor so I can get full screen navigation from my phone.

Same here, but most likely you would have to speak to a pro installer for that. They will know how to bypass the system to display a video when driving.

I saw a kit a while back. Around $150, I think.

Going from HDMI (digital signal) to the RCA (analog) in the car is not as simple as just plugging in an adapter harness. You will need something that actually processes the signal and converts it, similar to how old TV's need a converter box to use rabbit ears now because the signal is digital while the TV can only receive analog signals.

That is why I specifically mentioned using a converter box. The box can be hidden inside the console.

You are correct. Sorry, it's been a long week.

Also, this is the unit I have heard about the most for getting video to play while the car is in motion.

Haha. No worries. I'll likely just keep a converter box in the back and place it inside the console on road trips. I kinda like having the entire car factory; nothing looks broken or rigged. :-P

I definitely agree on the need to make everything look factory.

In looking for a snap-in panel mounted HDMI port all I can find is some mounted with screws. Less than ideal if you are picky like I am. You could probably get away with a strong epoxy on the backside of the panel to retain this connector to eliminate the need for screws but I don't know how well that would hold hold to repeated plugging/un-plugging.

I'm looking into min-hdmi panel mount now...

I wonder if you could remove the stock RCA input assembly and put this in its place?
