Hey, look - Ford is only a few months behind us!

2013 Escape, Focus, C-Max - Rear View Camera Guidelines Disappear
Some 2013 Escape, Focus, and C-Max vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch and a rear camera may exhibit guidelines which may disappear. This may be caused when the customer shifts into reverse very quickly after starting the vehicle. It can be avoided once the guidelines are set to On by shifting into reverse just a bit more slowly following ignition-on sequence. The customer should wait for the SYNC system to fully boot up and show the home screen before shifting or the concern may repeat. Guidelines can be turned back on by customer by entering the SYNC Menu (two gears) - Vehicle - Rear View Camera - Guidelines. Engineering is currently investigating this condition through the quicker service fix (QSF) process. Until a new service procedure and/or parts are available do not attempt repair. Monitor OASIS for updates.

Indeed.

How about they just fix the darn thing?

I certainly never thought I shifted into reverse too quickly... I mean, I get that it's just waiting 10 seconds, but at the same time it feels like such a long wait sometimes.

First world problems?

I can understand the lines not being there until the system fully boots, but I cannot understand or accept that it overwrites the user preference as a result.

IS there any way you can add some of the Garmin add ons to the Sync Nav? Like the speed limit icons and actual road speed?

Can you change the pointer icon like on the Garmin Nav units?

Is that a option that needs to be enabled? I've never seen the mph on my navigation screen any of the times I've used it.

I haven't found it in settings but mine shows when I have a route set. It won't show when there is no route set.

No, no option needs to be set. You need to have the nav display on and I the zoom may need to be not too far in or out (but I can't swear to that). The speed limit shows on a little white speed limit sign on the bottom left corner. I will try to snap a photo tomorrow.

Edit: Now that I think about it some more, I think you may have to toggle the on-screen view button too. I don't think the speed limit icon shows up in every available view. I will play with it tomorrow and update.

OK, I tinkered with this a bit this morning. View mode toggle makes no difference and neither does zoom. No destination needs to be entered either. Speed limit data only seems to appear for the roads that show in a color on the map, not the tertiary type roads in grey.

See photos below. Photos suck because it turns out it is kinds difficult (and probably dangerous) to drive and take photos at the same time.
