At least a few days, though I'm sure we could easily do it in a weekend if properly motivated lol. When you replace the rear main seal you have to drop the oil pans in order to remove and reinstall the rear main seal carrier. Unless you can pry the seal out while it's in the car which if you ask me isn't the best idea since the carrier is only bolted on the top side. The rear main seal has a metal outer that is pressed fit into the carrier. I almost though I wouldn't be able to get the old one out when I took it off. I'll be honest and say I wish I didn't replace the rear main seal since it added way too much headache and time to getting it back on. You also have to make sure that the rear main seal carrier is seated properly and within alignment specs with the lower half of .005" or something like that. I ended up buying another darn manual for the focus. Had I had it before I decided to take the rear main seal off then I would have said eff that and just through the trans on. I never had this much trouble with replacing one. Most of the ones I've replaced though were on V8's and you just use a pick and pull it out and push the new one on.

If you want to call or text me you can, in fact I would like to talk to you about when your going to do this so I can help you as much as I can. I did find out that the Getrag takes only 1.8qts so I am almost certain that we probably over filled yours which with the old baked seals from having little to no fluid it in and then being bathed in fluid which you know what the end results of that are now unfortunately . So I would like to help you as much can so we can get you back up and running quickly.

my torsen comes in tomorrow..
luk rep kit on monday.
going to pick up the remainder of the seals (except oil pan gasket, i found one at parts geek) from Tommie Vaughn when they come in. getting fluids there and new oil (RP) since i am due for one anyways.. and i know we will have to do it regardless.
i ordered axle seals and they vin-matched them, so hopefully they are the right ones this time, lol.

i will be willing to pay in food/beverages/whatever i can.. sorry, no ladies of the night. haha

Are you loosing oil or tranny fluid? If the oil level stays the same then it's probably tranny fluid.

It's also one helluva mess to deal with. I never gotten so dirty before and I ruined so many pairs of shorts now.

Not Entirely Sure. It's Really Really Dark, Almost Black.
