^tis because TQ overpowers drag.

X2 on the no need to remove it, automatic and only a 1/2 mile you won't hit the limiter. Also it's not like the few extra MPH will get you anywhere but a stiffer competition that will be pissed you're always in their way.

Have to ask though, does the car have ABS?

A friend of mine with a bone stock svt did a 6th gear pull on a dyno and hit 170mph so there can't be a limiter. The video is on youtube to prove it.

Tune is not the only answer. Get a GPS. And unplug the VSS from the transmission (if it's a manual, might not work on an auto). It's on the engine-side of the tranny just about the pass-side axle. Make sure you have descent tires.

I'm not advocating speeding at all but you're right Joe, I hate hearing about people doing 140+ on H rated tires and bad brakes.

Myfafp3: No one is arguing that the svt has a speed limiter. Now if someone has a video of ANY focus(ZX3) hitting 170+ on a closed course I'll gladly . Not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it would probably take a bit of aero work and probably 400+whp. Oh and a realllllly long straight away.

Wow I was surprised to see that there wasn't alot of flaming going on in here lol. Yes you could probably could unplug your speed sensor. But you won't know how fast you are going and two it could make the tranny shift crazy funny or too early since it won't know how fast its going in one gear. My friend has done this on his s-10. He would think he was going 120mph but in reality he was barely over 100mph and the limiter was at 98mph lol. Each car is different and I only seen this done on standard tranny equipped cars and one auto but it was again an older style chevy. I would'nt think you will hit your top speed but you never know. Good luck and lets us know how it goes.

Limiter

So it looks like the only way to get rid of it is a tune?

I thought the Governor is limited on gear selection and revs and not actual speed. Thats why their is a + or - of 4-5 MPH depending on the exact set timing and grind of the cams.

I hit 152.2 on the front stretch of VIR in my Turbocharged SVT with a good bit of RPM left to go and thats with 326HP and 331 TQ

12.99 @ 111 In the 1/4

Stock speed limiter is set to 105 MPH on the SVT Focus
