Fixing Paint Damage

During the winter I slid into a tree (whoops) and sustained some damage to the A-pillar. I wasn't worried about it... until the paint started to peel down to bare metal.

Pictures are here

What do you guys recommend would be the best way to seal this up to prevent further peeling and rust?

Thanks!

You are going to get this repaired? It is going to peel, if you pick at it. It is primed? If you want scuff it down & mask & prime.

I wasn't planning on getting it repaired. I just want to seal it up so the peeling stops and I seal up the bare metal so it's not susceptible to rust down the road.

Yeah I wasn't planning on it because I fear that the work to repair will be a HUGE cost because it's not just a body panel, it's the frame of the car. I'm getting it priced this week, but I don't anticipate doing it.

It's really an aesthetic thing, which I don't really care to spend a bunch of money to fix.

I really just want to make sure (at the least) that it won't rust. Will touch up paint be able to seal it up?

You should get that repaired for the reason you stated, its not a body panel... You can replace a body panel down the road, your pillar, not so much.

I never really plan on selling the car, and I don't mind the cosmetic damage so I think I'll keep it as is for now.

I sealed it with touch up paint to see how it holds up.

A basketball goal came down on my pillars. It makes me cringe looking at it because its such a major repair.
