That's the original MAF housing correct? IIRC, when using the original MAF housing you have to modify it so you can turn the MAF the other direction when you flip the housing.

If that's not the problem, I would try cleaning the MAF if you haven't tried that.

My maf is brand new so im pretty sure its not dirty , but ill try flipping it and see if that clears it up. Thanks for the info man

No prob. The MAF should have an arrow indicating the direction the air should flow past it.

So just to get this right before I order all the parts you need the following.

Spectre #9405 Air Flow Sensor Mount Tube and use the 2.25" adapter
1 - 45 degree elbow tube also 2.25" diameter
2 - silicone couplers and clamps. also in 2.25" diameter.

Is that about right?

Or can I use 3" pipe because I have a ton of that stuff laying around the shop?

You can use 3" intake tubing. The most important thing is matching the MAF diameter.
