Really? I just submitted my 10$ rebate. That's why it's under 20$ and the reason why I went with the Ultra.

26$ before rebate for the Ultra. 3$ for the filter, both from Wally World.
Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra have a 10$ rebate right now if you buy 5qt or more.

I'll look into the 25$ rebate.

Not to knock DIY'rs. But for another $10 you could get The Works package and get a tire rotation and multipoint inspection. They are usually 39.99, but have coupons out all the time for a discount, like $10 off this month. And they use synthetic blend oil, which will get you up to another 10k miles. Plus all you gotta do is sit and wait for about an hour tops.

My counter argument to this is DIY gives you a chance to get under the car every so often and check for leaks, check suspension, tears in any boots, etc. Then you can take care of things before they become serious problems.

If you are paranoid about going up to 10k without looking for problems, do that yourself. You don't have to be changing the oil to get under and look at stuff. You can do that any time. So I don't understand your counter argument. If I am going to pay 20-30 bucks for supplies, I might as well go ahead and get the rotation etc for a few bucks more. Plus I don't have to go pick up the stuff at the store.

I didn't say I was paranoid, and I wouldn't expect anything major to happen on a car this new, but I still see it as a good idea to check (it's not like DCT owners have reported bell housing leaks or anything). Sure I could hop under the car any time, but that's not always convenient. Also, I'm personally not a fan of having someone else tell me what is wrong. I'm an engineer so I'm stubborn and like to figure things out myself!

For me, I live in an apartment and don't have my own ramps/jack stands, so on my old car I did my oil changes at my uncle's house. It was an easy time to get under the car and check around. That being said, the dealer I got my Focus from offers free oil changes for life, so I intend to have them do oil changes/tire rotations until I either move away or they stop that service.

Sure. I could do that. But why do that when I'm able to do all that myself? I'm ASE certified and know my way in and around cars, trucks and SUV's. It's all about saving money. Not to mention, I have a local shop that does my tire rotations and pumps them full of nitrogen for free.

Oh and that "The Works" package doesn't include Motorcraft Full Synthetic. Just Motorcraft Synthetic Blend.

I like to know it's done right. 80% of my experience with dealer shops hasn't been right.

But they do have free coffee even if you're not having work done. That's a plus.
