Thanks for the timely reply, Crystal. We got the car back last night after they reprogrammed the TCM. Their paperwork noted that they heard no grinding noises nor experienced any strange behavior from the transmission. They say they found no fluid leak between the engine and bell housing, but I'll have to climb under the car to check that for myself.

Driving the car, I did still notice the characteristic jerkiness/hesitation during some low-speed acceleration and a less pronounced (intermittent) grinding noise during shifting. This is a slight improvement, but due to the intermittent nature of the problem I suppose only a few days' driving will tell if things get better or if the problems resurface.
