I'm at that point.

Without the $2500 incentive there are better cars at the focus price point. The DCT works great on a test drive, or if you get on a highway and maintain a constant speed, but once a few miles has gone by or in varied driving it turns to crap. It's like a drunk monkey is shifting.

Serves me right for buying American. After owning over a dozen cars and driving hundreds I should have known better.

I'm there. It was a double-whammy for me, though. It was my first car purchase (the last car I drove was my parents' 2002 Ford Escape) and it was a new car. I've had such a horrible experience, I don't think I'll ever buy a new car of any make ever again. I might still buy a Ford, but it'll be used and for fun so that I can tinker with it on the side - NOT as my daily driver.

I used to not understand how people could buy foreign and not support our economy - them something like this happens to me. It's a dog eat dog world out there and no one is looking out for me. Apparently, if you want to protect yourself, you need to buy a foreign car.

I hear you loud and clear. This was my first NEW car too and the experience has been horrible. I will however buy a new car again, but I will NEVER buy a FIRST YEAR REDESIGN ever. again.

Although in the case of the focus, there seem to be a lot of people with 2013's also with issues...

Don't be sad, let it break in and try another dealer if you can.

Hi kylet11,

Since you live in Canada, I recommend that you reach out to my colleagues at Ford Canada so they can assist you. They can be reached at 1-800-565-3673.

It is sad that your local dealer is treating you like this, if you ever make it down to Halifax, stop into Steele Ford (ask for Trish at the service counter or the service manager, Lynn). I had LOTS of minor issues with my 2012 SEL last year (headliner replacement, back seat replacement, dash realignment, taillight replacement, steering rack replacment, steering wheel trim replacement MFT replacement and most recently new DCT clutch packs, seals and actuators), and now I finally love my Focus. Steele was extremely nice to us and bent over backwards to make the car right (after trying several reflashes of the DCT TCM, they opened up the tranny to see the leaking oil without me prodding them), and it finally is. They are very patient with the issues on the new Focus (not once have they ever said to me "its normal" or "they all do that"), and they have "fixed" several of them now and most have gone away happy again. I have almost 60k on mine, (I have a long commute to work), but, I can't remember the last time I got LESS than 550km to a tank (normal for us 65%/45% hwy/city mix is around 650km-700km a tank). The key for really good mileage in this car is no hard accelerating and I keep the cruise set at 102km/hr and no higher on the highway.. I found that even 110km/hr (speed limit) I would drop considerably in mileage. I hope you try another dealer and you get yours sorted out, it was a trying first year of ownership, but my dealer kept my hopes up and it has paid off... for us anyway.

Jesus H. Tap-dancing Christ - I love your dealer. I should move to Nova Scotia!

I'm at 48k miles now and there are several repairs that I would have liked to have gotten taken care of while it was still under warranty but kept saying "I'll worry about that after my clutch gets fixed."

...but my clutch was never fixed. So now I have a car out of warranty with back seat leather not properly attached, a rattling passenger seat, and I think I have the steering wandering issue (but I'm not positive yet) because although it's not hard to change directions, it never tracks straight forward. I'm going to get an alignment first.

Is it normal that i only get 400kms to a full tank of gas? i took it to the dealer and they said it normal for this car? does anyone else have this bad mileage too? and they also seem like they don't want to do anything about my bad studdering/ noise when taking off. What should i do?
Give your car a good workout.

Try a few 0-60 runs with your foot planted firmly to the floor and see if that doesn't improve the clutch engagement.
