6 seconds to 60 for a FWD street car is a pretty lofty goal. The new ST is tested at 5.9 seconds and has waaaaaaay more power than a Duratec will ever have without forced induction.

You would need serious weigh reduction in the rear and some ultra sticky tires up front.
An upgraded clutch/flywheel couldn't hurt and would probably be necessary after a few launches on the stock hardware anyway.

For a 94 Mustang GT maybe... LOL
(A new V6 Mustang will hit 60 just over 5 seconds & A good driver will hit low 4s in the new GT)

For reference of stock performance from a 2.0 duratec 5sp, here is the dynolicious run from my car

MazdaSpeed3s do it in 5.5 seconds. So realistically, you'll need roughly 200-225WHP or so to get that 6 Second mark.

do you think it would take more than basic bolt ons and stage 2 cams?

Yup. The highest WHP NA I've seen in person in a 2.3 was 197WHP from EGZ back in the day, and he had quite a bit. COSWORTH made some insane NA 2.3s as well. Fully built high compression.

My '00 Integra Type R ran 0-60 in about 6 seconds in NA trim and ran the 1/4 in the mid 14s with 195hp at the crank but it's secret was it's 2500lb curb weight.

Not to mention Type R's can wind out longer than a Focus.

Okay, so I wasn't that far off. I like measurable targets. Something proven like a timeslip.

Why I like bikes, thinking of the 0 to 60 in 4 seconds flat in 1969, Kawasaki 500 Mach III. My '83 Magna 1100 was supposed to be able to do 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds and felt every bit if it. Better hold on to those handlebars, bucko..............

I'm big into bikes too, but there's just something about building a car, I can't explain it.

Well, it was more like 2640lb which is pretty much what our cars weigh. The main reason was the power, gears, and weight distribution 62/38.
