Hey, I have another question. Will our cars be plug and play for a tach or do we have to do something in order to make a stock tach work? I have decided to replace my gauge cluster so I want to make sure it will work before I buy one with a tach...

Cool, yeah my gas gauge is screwed so I think it is a good time to swap them. Besides, my car is american but has a Canadian cluster and that will look suspicious when I go to sell the car.

Did this a while ago myself, and it worked with no issues.

I was lucky enough to find one from the same year, with mileage slightly less than mine - so I'm not showing 50,000 I didn't drive... (grin)

BTW, each had a descriptive paper tag on the back with "Low Line" on the original & "High Line" on the one with the tach.

The only issue I've heard of with this switch was mentioned by someone who got one off a car with ABS, and told us the ABS warning light came on when installed in his car.

Might have been a fluke with that particular unit, I know in MY case the switch solved my intermittent brake warning light issue - proving that particular problem was in the cluster itself!

The only variations between clusters I know of for SURE on the Gen I cars are the "high Line" with tach., the "Low Line" without, and the SVT specific unit that has "Glow" lighting and needs a separate transformer for the backlight.

Cheers!

Calebstubstad - Looks like you've been having fun with the Focus, and on this Forum! Wasn't that long ago I remember seeing your first posts here. Nice to see Ya hangin' out & helping out!

$30 seems very cheap! I'd say jump on it if I were you!
