Hey, it seems like we are both newer to these cars and researching about messing around with them at the same time. I have seen you in some of the other threads regarding the stealth mod, CAI, etc.

I'm no mechanic (shade tree mechanic but not a real mechanic) but I have quite a bit of experience in dealing w/ after market CAIs. I've done them and exhausts on almost every vehicle I've ever owned and it's been several. A 1997 mustang GT, a 2000 mustang GT, a Chevy Silverado, a 2005 GTO and a 2012 mustang GT (my baby w/ all kinds of mods).

I wouldn't do the DIY SRI at all. You start messing around w/ the factory air intake amounts w/out a tune, cutting the tube, siliconing and grinding the MAF bracket etc and the MAF sensor and you are asking for trouble. It may be ok, but you'd be much better off just doing the stealth mod IMO especially with your coolent line issue. Also, notice how people say what a great mod it is, then a week later they're back in there talking about codes, bogging, and all kinds of other problems.

Is yours an ATX (automatic transmission)? If so, that's why you have those lines there. I would say you could still do the stealth mod but I'd have to look to be sure b/c I wouldn't leave those lines rubbing against the metal screen of the cone air filter. If you could carefully just zip tie them to the frame somehow you'd be fine.
