Glad you found the problem. When I was reading the post I saw you said you heard a pop. first thing that came to mind was my friend changed his oil and the oil filter ring for stuck on the engine and made a popping noise. Glad you figured the problem out

Hope that didn't happen! I only hand-tightened the oil filter.
