Question for Focus owners with Sync?

Hello,

I just had a question regarding the Sync system in your Focus. My girlfriend and I just purchased new 2013 Ford's. I got an Escape and she got a Focus. Now, it's been three months and she has had nothing but problems with her Sync microphone. We have brought it in to the dealership repeatedly, but no resolution yet. Basically when she is using her phone via bluetooth through Sync there is a ton of road noise and when she speaks her voice is distorted. Ford's fix thus far is putting a huge amount of foam up in the compartment where the microphone is, but this is a bust.

Is anyone else experiencing these issues and if so how did you resolve it?

She is getting really frustrated with the situation not being able to use Sync for what it is intended.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

-Zac

i haven't had any issues with my Focus... yet?
i've noticed that the dealerships hands are tied for a lot of Ford issues though - maybe try contacting Ford directly and see if they have a resolution or a suggestion? mention to them that the dealership was unable to provide you with an adequate resolution.

Yeah I am starting to see that. I have contacted Ford through Twitter to get some additional help. Hopefully they can get this straightened out soon. Glad to see that you aren't having any issues with your Focus.

Thanks!

best of luck with getting it looked after!
If anything, Ford's customer service has been much better than my previous encounters with Mazda and Honda at the dealership level. At least they TRY to fix it instead of giving you some lame excuses! :)

There is a Ford contact on the forums, her name is Crystal - reach out to her with the following information: VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name and the issue.

My sync handfree seems OK, at least no one has complained, although I have made very few calls.

Do you have the console with the "bake your sunglasses" holder, or just the mic?

Have you tried it with different phones?

Just an idea: Have your tried switching vehicles and use your phone in her car and her phone in your car? Do you get the same results? I know my wife cannot hear me very well if I am talking thru Sync in my 09 Focus while moving. Her 2010 Fusion has no problem, but we have different phones also. I have not tried the switch myself, I just know that some phones are much better than others and that may be the culprit.

What version of sync? I had the same problem with 3.1.1c, yesterday dealer upgraded to 3.1.4c and the mic is a lot better. you can check your version at http://www.ford.com/syncmyride/ with a usb stick. This is sync only not MyfordTouch.
