Yeah BITOG loves them some Motorcraft filters (and oil). I've been using PureOne's just to feel like I'm using something better than OEM, even though I have no evidence to say they're clearly better.

I got K&N filters for my next oil change as part of Advance's Pennzoil Platinum promotion. Man are they stoutly built. Much heavier than the PureOne's. Of course all that matters it the filtering media and I haven't taken them apart to compare the media.

The 2012 is supposed to change at 10,000 miles. I changed mine at 5,000 and was not really pleased wit hthe shape the oil seemed to be in.So next time I will go with 4,000 mi
The stock Motorcraft filter is very good.
Huh? As stated earlier, and all over BITOG, you can't tell the condition of the oil by looking at it. You're probably wasting your money with 4k OCI's.

Yeah, it was after 16 months.. Oct 2011 to Feb 2013 (I do not drive too much.) If I waited for 10,000 miles it WOULD TAKE THREE YEARS..so?
WAYYY better to save ten bucks and screw the motor? Not me.

Well so you changed it because it was in too long (and apparently you're a short-tripper), which makes way more sense to me then changing it because it "didn't look right."

Running a Bosch 3330 ($5) here with Castrol Edge Titanium FST 0W-20 synth, planning on a 7500 OCI. When that's up, it'll be an Amsoil EA filter + appropriate accompanying lubricant.

Change the oil once per year if your mileage is lower than 10K per year.
Ford OIL 5w20
Ford Oil Filter

If you have a warranty claim they cannot point fingers.

I've used M1 with Puralator PureOne filer in all my vehicles for the last 15 years with good results but with the Focus Ford is changing the oil every 5000 miles for the next couple of years. After that I'll switch to synthetic.

I use Motorcraft filters because they're well made and I can pick them up at Walmart along with my Mobile 1.

Ditto ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Wallyworld pulls thru. I use a FL842 or a 16 filter, w/ Mobil 1.

Seriously old phart from Canada here, Eh? Change yer frickin' oil every 5,000 miles and it will stay clean between oil changes unless you beat the crap outta your car, run sub standard oil or use toilet paper for a filter. Speaking of oil filters, do some homework at Bobtheoilguy. Pretty good 411 there.

Cheers!

Mike
