Is it really smart to install a double din reciever w/o detachable face????

I want a DVD/GPS/Bluetooth unit (double din) in my ZX3 but I have to question the security risks. BTW this is the link of what I am interested in getting:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-2-inch-2-d...item43b4fb56f0

I currently have a single din JVC cd player w/ BT but the stupid equalizer settings dont save for this model. I almost always have to go back and re adjust the bass, mids and highs.

Anyways going back to this unit from ebay. There is no detachable face, which in turns creates temptation for theft. I see some nice work on these forum for units but a big 6-7" screen is very vulnerable and I would hate for my hard work to be in vain. Before you all question my surroundings, I just want to point out that I live in a nice area but no place is immune from crime. I need some advice from you guys.

Depends on the theft in your area. I have had detachable faces and never took them off. I've only had one system stolen and it was in a high crime area.
I currently have a dvd player without a detachable face. I'm not too worried about it.

The quickest way to get jacked is to advertise you have a god system by playing loud.I play loud but only in certain areas.most of the time thugs won't take a look unless they hear you then they get interested.be smart with the volume and you should be ok.

"thugs" arent the only people that would jack a stereo. there are also druggies, theives, and poor people that think they have to in order to survive.

dont play your music loud enough for people to clearly hear outside the car within 1-2 miles of your normal shopping areas, work, or home. if they hear you they will know you have it. besides that even if its a detachable faceplate they will still take it with out the faceplate. the serial number on the back and a phone call to the company that makes it is all it takes to buy a new faceplate for fairly cheap.

They are all thugs.
Also don't play loud at home or in your neighborhood. My oldest boy was doing that and came out the next morning to a busted drivers window.Didn't touch his factory radio but scammed his gps and a few other things.

I made the mistake of installing my system at an apartment complex. It was stolen that night. Now I go to friend's country houses.
