Lone Survivor

I'm not sure how many of you even know who Marcus Luttrell is. I'm not sure how many more have read his book Lone Survivor.

For those unaware of both, ML is the sole survivor of a SEAL mission in Afghanistan, Operation Red Wings. He went into the op with 3 teammates, all of which were killed by Taliban forces.

Later on, support came in a helicopter which was nailed with an RPG upon arrival, killing everyone. He was quite literally, the only survivor. Eventually found by Army Rangers.

Anyway, for those who know who he is, or have hopefully read his book...

How do you feel about the upcoming movie Lone Survivor?

Do you dismiss it right away (this is how I am feeling currently), do you have hopes for it?

I feel like a movie could never do these men justice, the largest loss of life in SEAL history. The things this man did to survive. I can't see a movie being able to remotely begin to cover it.

The movie was horrible! Wrong actors for the roles and the action scenes seemed cheaply made. I expected more considering Mark W.'s last role in Shooter.

I didn't like Shooter. I had read Steven Hunters books (actually just bought another one today) with the character "Bob the nailer" years before Shooter came out. The character in the books was a Vietnam war veteran and older than the Mark Wahlburg version. Hated the way they changed it.

I loved shooter and LS. I know it didn't give those men justice from looking online, and not all was how it went according Marcus's accounts but at least people know somewhat of what happened. I didn't read the book and very rarely read books but this really reaches those who don't read it and show our countries true bravery, and the way the village treated him was inspiring to anyone to protect the weak.

Really I am not real sure how someone could see this movie or know anything about it and say it was bad. I know it was not all true or right, but this should be inspiring and humbling to everyone. The men it tries to tell of truly gave their life for this country and the ones they loved. If I am not mistaken one of them was going to get married or something like that. We shouldn't forget these men who gave it all for you.

And no I am not bashing anyone about their opinion I am just expressing mine and the respect I have for those who serve.

I have the utmost respect for those that have served this country. My opinion should have no reflection on the true hero's that gave their lives during this place in time.
Again, two of the four actors were a poor choice on the directors part for playing the role. Additionally, there was ONE major action scene that took place, which was sub par at best. These guys took 73 rounds EACH to extremities and vital organs before going down....ok. The build up to the action scene wasn't bad but I was left wanting something better for a climax. I guess it's just a difference in opinion on this one. I'll have to watch it again when it hits redbox or on demand but I highly doubt my opinion of it will change.
