I'm pretty sure I read that someone was running the Tarmacs w/ stock Ti handling pack tires (235) and it was stretching a bit. Those wheels are a 1/2" wider.

Anyone put 255's on? What would be the issue in putting wider tires on my 18 wheels?

I'm running 245/40. I don't see an issue with a 255, but it'll need a wider wheel than a 8".

^^^^^^^ This^^^^^^^^ Dunlop's= go for the Star Spec's^^^^^^
Those Nitto's are all-seasons too I believe so they really won't stack up against dedicated summer tires. I'm sure they aren't bad tires, but judging by your avatar you autocross so you'll probably want something a bit more glued to the ground.
There are better A/S tires than the Nitto's

Where did you see/read this? A 235 tire should not have any stretch on a 8.5" wheel.

Feedback from a guy with 235s and Tarmacs. Another thread.

My question: What tire did you opt for w/ the Tarmacs.

Ahhhh.... I guess I misunderstood what was meant by tire stretch. Section width on that tire as measured on a 8.5" wheel is 9.5", while tread width is only 8.2". So comparing the tread to the wheel width then yes it is stretched... When I hear tire stretch, I picture wheels that are wider than the section width of the tires mounted on it.... Like this crap...

There's a pretty good Conti low roll resist tire in 245/40r18 that could be replacing my factory Michelins when they wear out. If I am going to leave those radius limiters in from the Ti Handling Pack, I might as well go big with the tire. We'll see when the time comes.
