Crower sells individuals. I or E at the end of a part # gets you intake or exhaust. A 2 at the end of the part # is pair.

Yeah you dont have to spend the money but to me it only make sense to buy the gears for easy adjustment of the cams. This is not to mention the other benefits of cam gears.

I used the oem gears. It works great for me.
