I really hope im not thread jacking here, but i plan on installing the fswerks kit later this year. anyone have any knowledge on how far you can go with a stock d20 and auto trans? I was thinking about upgrading to the GT28RS instead of the GT28R. And to answer the OP's question, if you want reliable boost you gotta lay down the cash. Period. Quality never comes cheap. Fswerks might be expensive, but that's because they're reliable.

ive read up on it, and it seems like everyone has different numbers. some people say our internals are only good till 180whp. then others say 250whp. Im thinking if your gonna get try and get high numbers. buy yourself a upgrade on your tranny. from what i read, a stock clutch can handle 40-60 more horse power.(thats just what i read, i dont have any experience in transmissions)and on a auto they cant handle as much a manual tranny. maybe buy some different pistons and re-do the head to prevent detonation of your engine. but like i said i dont know, thats what i got out of doing research. A lot of people can talk but half of them havent done anything to there cars.
Hope this helps alittle. :)

aftermarket pistons can not be installed with out rods for the focus

head work is not needed at all

stock d20 can handle more than the stock auto trans which is the 200whp range

people have different numbers they post b/c there is no set number. like saying that 250whp will not break the engine but 260whp will. any where in the 200's has been done DD on stock engine, but the more you push the power the more you push your luck.

being in the 200's is safe on stock engine with a GOOD TUNE

Tim

Don't ever start a forced-induction project with a specific budget in mind.
Take it from me, even if you do all fabrication yourself, you'll end up spending more than expected.

Dont think theres much upgrading you can do to an auto trans. Kinda hating myself a bit for not getting the manual
