Trading focus for miata

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for me to party ways with my Focus ST. I love my car but I've been driving a focus since 2006 and I'm getting a little tired of it. I've been wanting to do rwd for ages and this could be my chance. There is a man in arkansas, a few hours from me, who put up an ad on craigslist looking to trade his 91 miata for "anything with more than 2 seats". SO I called him and we are thinking of trading later this week. My car has a rust problem so I knew selling it for a decent amount of money amount of money was not going to happen so really this is fantastic! I still think my rally-esq focus looks better than a miata but the miata should be a lot of fun to drive and give me something to mod like nuts. It's a 1.6 with a manual trans, 143k miles, american racing wheels, and a muffler delete. Before you go all TLDNR I'll post some pictures.

I'm pretty excited, I've always wanted a proper "sports car".
Has anyone had any experience trading cars? I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Does this sound like a good deal to you guys?

The mechanics of a title swap are very simple. Be certain that the transferor (both, if there is more than one) sign the title certificate as the name appears on the front, have the requisite number of witnesses and/or a notary public, and, if your state requires a separate bill of sale, have that executed with the requisite formalities. If any of the title/sale documents require a $$amount, you and the "seller" will have to agree on a value. Some states will tax you on the KBB value, regardless of the value you choose.
Good luck.

I've thought about picking up an old miata myself. Rwd on the cheap and look like fun little cars.

I simply do not 'fit' into a Miata with the top up. Same for a GT5000 Mitsu.
Too small for me.
I like to sit 'upright'. and neither of those cars allows enough room to do so.
If i were 5'6" instead of 5'9" maybe...

I don't believe that. If a Miata can't fit a 5'9 woman, it can't fit anyone outside of the Orient. It's all how your body is structured, that affects your seat position - I'm 6'1, and I have a friend who's also 6'1. He had a ZX3 like mine. We're both about 210 pounds. Our seat positions are NOWHERE near each other...he is far more torso than I am. I'm built with long legs.

So you may just need to rethink your position. you can lean a little if you have long enough arms (like I do), but if you have no arms I guess you're SOL.

Side note, I don't fit in any generation Miata, and I'm not exceptionally tall.

I'm really not so sure. I did a kbb value online for my car and it came out to about 2500.
