Unless some one hacked this in, or its an option for the Canadian market only, the only factory cars from 2012 at least to have the rear view camera had to have MFT, otherwise they would not have been able to force people into it just for the camera.

Well don't feel obligated..... but ......if you get inspired and figure it out, you let us know and put up a good how-to. You make it sound so easy. Unfortunately my knowledge base about this kind of stuff is pretty sparse, so I can't contribute. I would REALLY like to have a backup camera.

So I actually called around a bit today to see if I could find any wrecked 2012 or 2013 Focuses and was told "any car that new that is wrecked would go to a rebuild shop." The newest Focus parts I could find were from a 2005.

Looking on ebay it looks like I can buy the sync module or the screen, but not both togather. And they are around $100 each... I really want to start playing with this, but I'm not sure how much cash I want to drop...

Edit: I've been thinking about some mods for the interior of my focus... maybe if I get half-way to accessing my sync module I'll just pull it out and look at it. But that is most likely not until the weather gets a bit warmer here.

in case you were wondering, the MFT Sync system is running on Windows Embedded. And many of the connections on the back of the display are micro usb. not sure what the connector for video is.

FWIW...
I played around with the inputs under the armrest...and hooked a portable DVD player up to it. The screen does indeed play video...only when in park though. It's not HD clearly...but it wasn't a bad pic. Was kinda fun to play around with.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the regular Sync with the 4" (ish) screen, not the MFT Sync with the big screen and the inputs - if you have inputs under your armrest, I'm assuming we're not talking about the same screen.

Thanks for the info, though.
