when i drop the clutch and hammer the gas in first gear i get bad wheel hop all the time, even if i just accelerate fast in 1st. car has less the 5,000 miles.
what would be the best way to solve this problem? or just help the problem so its not as bad. i can get better springs for about $200 or ford sells a full performance suspension package for $900 thats a little more then what i want to spend though. what do you think? |

you need to slip the clutch to get moving quickly, dumping it won't do you any good
I agree on the rear motor mount

Wheel hop is really hard on the car. If you cannot solve it STOP!
It takes some finess to prevent wheel hop. Part of it is guts. You have to force the wheel to spin harder than you are currently doing.. Allow the clutch to slip just a little more while giving it more power while doing so. you want to break traction fully for a moment at least ... so the car is already moving forward when the wheel reconnects. as is, now you are only getting close, and the wheel is bouncing and shaking the Hell out of all the connected parts. My former Contour SVT was great at getting wheel hop. After awhile i learned how to push the car right past that point and make a good minor spins the wheel instead of a hop. I found the only way to end a hop (once it is happening) is off the gas or push in the clutch. Maybe some automotive genius can push through a hop start and continue with heavy throttle (no let up).. But i've never done it |
