I understand most anything can have issues with today's technology. It is just very disappointing when you make your 1st payment one week and the car dies the next.

One thing I have noticed is that the DI engine seems to be kinda sensitive to shitty or low octane gas. On decent gas the car purrs, on crap gas the car hesitates, shakes, sputters, etc.

I stopped filling up with the discount gas at my local supermarket because of this. I suspect the octane was actually lower than 87. I have been filling up at the local BP and the car runs well.

Hi ds48059,

Thanks for keeping us updated on your vehicle. My offer to assist still stands; just send me a PM when you're ready to get started.

Crystal,

Thanks for the offer, I am going to let the dealership see what they can do first. Since I had not heard from them, I just called; they stated that their techs have not completed their review.

Got my car back last night - the dealership, working with the Ford Techs, found it to be the fuel pump in the gas tank. Pressure was intermittent - low as 47 PSI vs spec of 72PSI (Error code of P00C6).

They replaced the sender and pump assembly.

Guess what - the car behaves completely different than I remember. It does not hesitate and my gas mileage on day 1 is already almost 3 MPG better...

Beware! Stalling will happen again.

My daughters 2012 Focus has now stalled 3 times while she was driving. The dealership has replaced the Mass Airflow Sensor, the BCM, the fuel sending unit and several other parts. The issue is still occurring. They were able to duplicate the issue at a lower fuel level (40 miles to empty) at the dealership last time and were sure they fixed the problem. It just happened again. My daughter is now afraid to drive the vehicle and we want it bought back. Ford won't even talk to us about a buy-back since we are over 24,000 miles.
I'm so disappointed with Ford Customer Relationship Department, particularly since I have been a loyal Ford owner for decades. This experience is dramatically changing my perception of Ford.
