Sorry I should have been more clear, you MAY need to have them aligned when they are rotated if the car pulls in a direction but usually after a tire rotation one won't need an alignment. See if they will do it under warranty...

many more factors than just inflation will affect tire wear. Toe-in on acceleration/deceleration and cruise. Camber, which is usually not perfectly zero and can change based on vehicle loading. A vehicle's inherent scrub radius can also affect wear. You can change scrub by changing caster, but caster is not considered a tire wearing angle.

Oddly, the tires were all 29psi cold when I checked them myself.
Dealer had them all marked as 30 and noted they "should be 33." They probably were waiting for me to say go ahead on the balance before pumping them up, but I never did. However, I noted for myself that the sticker in the door jamb says 35 cold and thats where I set them. Slightest drift left now only in the left lane, so I'm not worrying. Dealer also noted that all the treads are 4/32" and marked them yellow (green, yellow, red). I suppose 2/32" is when you replace them. Right now I am at about 33k miles. Kinda surprised the tires are already 4/32. Per Tirerack they (Continental ContiProContact) start at 10/32, so if 2/32 is the cut-off, then they are already down 75%, and will last about 10K more miles (until 2/32). Since these are H-rated tires, the warranty is for 60K miles.... instead, looks like I will get 40K out of them (if I wait that long). |
