I forgot to post an update after installing everything on my 2012 Focus SE. This adapter worked perfectly as far as acc. power. The only thing that I can't figure out is that the left and right are switched around. When I adjust the balance on my Sony head unit, left is right, and vice versa. That's a very minor issue to me, so i'm satisfied. Now I just need to get something that lets me use steering wheel controls for my aftermarket stereo.

Here's the steering wheel control adapter. Just make sure your aftermarket HU works with this kind of device.
Axxess Metra ASWC-1 $55.00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4PJC9K Otherwise use the PAC SWI-X. That will work with any HU that has an infrared remote controller. I've got a used one I could sell you, if you go that route, since I'm switching to the ASWC-1.

Review the installation instructions: http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/12339.pdf Make sure you've wired it correctly. Then go ahead and do the initialization process. I had to go through these steps to reset the device, for it to work in my car. 1) Turn the ignition on, the led will flash slowly 2) Hold down the reset button for more then 2 seconds but less then 10 seconds, the led will start flashing rapidly 3) The ASWC will automatically find the vehicle and radio. 4) After a couple of seconds the led should stop flashing and not light up for 2 seconds. At this point do not push any buttons. 5) After the 2 seconds there will be a series of 7 flashes, some short and some long. 6) The led will pause for another 2 seconds then flash up to 11 times. 7) This is the end of the auto detection stage. If the ASWC detected the vehicle and the radio successfully the led will light up solid red. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure I connected the correct wires, and I did the reset >2/<10 secs. method several times thinking maybe it didn't connect properly. When I did the reset, the third and fifth green LED flashes were long, with the rest being short. The red LED flashed four times, which is correct for the Sony stereo I have. Am I correct in leaving the vehicle side of the gray/yellow wire disconnected, and only having the white/green wire spliced to the harness side of the gray/yellow wire? That part confused me some, but that's the way I took it.
I was puzzled when it turned the volume all the way up, and disabled the touch screen navigation of my stereo. When I touch an item on the screen, it highlights it but doesn't select it. I've never had a problem with the Sony before this, and I'm inclined to think it's something to do with the remote connection. I will confirm my wiring and try again after work in the morning. I'm really excited to get this working. I've really missed my steering wheel controls these past few months. |

You may have connected to the wrong end of the gray/yellow. You want to attach the device to the vehicle (steering wheel) side of the wire. The wire running to the upper display remains disconnected.
