As far as I know there is no upside to herpes, but I feel MFT has a lot to offer, same for the DCT. If you made your decision based on the complaint threads here, Ford might as well sell only MT, non MFT Foci and be done. I personally would not want to own a non MFT/DCT Focus. Problem is there are probably thousands of others that feel the same way but don't log on to the forums to complain about their satisfaction, but a very high percentage of those with issues real and perceived will log on in a hearbeat. I think that is all a few of us here are trying to get across. Yes there have been issues with some of the systems, but to say you must get a base car without some of the nicer features because some have had issues, when thousands are happy with the same systems, makes no sense.

I've yet to read a review of any car site/rag raving about the DCT and most of those recommend the 5 speed and the MFT is universally loathed in the same reviews but otherwise I read very little negative about these cars. Yes,I'm glad I didn't roll the dice with the DCT and am very happy with the 5 speed.

Actually, everybody has the herpes virus, just not the contagious one. So in a way it is like the car, most have the good one so don't complain, it is the ones who are infected with the virulent strains that you hear about. LOL!

The definition of hearsay is rather simple and unambiguous, don't you think?

It is common knowledge that some people have had issues with MFT.

Certainly that is no reason to recommend against it without having firsthand experience.

I have lived with MFT for more than a year and a half. If I were to get another Ford car, MFT would be an absolute must have item.

Sure, the definition is simple but it's not applicable to what riparke said. riparke could very well have first hand experience with MFT or the DCT. You can't unequivocally claim what riparke said is hearsay.

I do have MFT and I like it a lot. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to get it again.
I

I love MFT and wish it was on my car. Easy to operate and I don't have to prompt it to bluetooth audio like in my car but I can see how it could cause problems. My mother gets impatient at times with some of the prompt times, not waiting for the beep before talking. A couple of rapid clicks and screen presses later and its locking up.

Is MFT as good as the German units? No. I can only wish it was as great as MMI.

But having had cars with and without such systems I don't think I could buy a car again that didn't at least have the functionality of non-navigation equipped MFT.

As far as the DCT goes? Sue me for being satisfied with it and I would absolutely pick it again.

6 Speed DCT that has worked over 5 speed manual that has also worked. If they offered the 6 speed for us, things could change.

I have had pretty much this kind of experience. I would add that things that concerned me have smoothed out considerably for me since I switched to 93 octane. Not related to transmission? In this digital age of cars adjusting things for different fuels, is it not possible that the transmission is somehow involved? Perhaps, and perhaps not.
I have two of them in the garage, because I liked the first one that much!
