The throttle response is "slow", but I think what you are feeling is the engine trying to spin up. Do you have a stock flywheel? Stock flywheel is 24.5 lbs, I have a spec 12 lb Al flywheel and my SVTF revs like crazy. I love it. And Yes I can feel the sluggish throttle response when I first start, but "slow" response to the throttle input is still on the order of vastly less than 1 second. I suspect your sense of "takes forever" is most likely due to the engine spinning up a 24.5 lb flywheel. If your sense is that it's on the order of seconds, you are no longer talking about throttle response. Personally I looked at the CFM throttle body a lot and came to the conclusion that with a light weight flywheel I could just deal with the less then 1/4 second throttle response delay since my engine revs so much faster now. $250 is a LOT of money for only 1 or 2 mm. No way I am spending that much money to gain 1 mm in diameter with the BBK. Let alone 2 mm for the CFM. (for a street car, if you are competitively racing the SVT where every ounce of performance counts, I can understand forking over for a slightly larger TB) If you don't have a light weight flywheel I suggest looking into them seriously when you come due for a new clutch. They are very common to come with a clutch kit since it's easily done as 1 job. I am not sure I would spend the money to put in a lightweight flywheel if I didn't need a clutch though. As a random plug, I love my Spec Stage 2 clutch & Al flywheel, I am on my second one (1st kit was to replace stock at 45k miles when the stock one crapped out, that lasted till 120+k miles even with LOTs of downtown DC driving in traffic, and I replaced it early during some other work) |

I feel a slight bog in the throttle when I shift (2.5-3k rpm), if I only get on the throttle light-medium. If I'm in the throttle fairly hard, I don't notice it. Was wondering if this was the sort of thing that a throttle body replacement would help with. I don't need a clutch anytime soon (hopefully), and am not wild about all the noises and clunking I'm reading about with aftermarket clutch/flywheel setups in these cars. Those noises would make me nuts...

Throttle body
I ported my stock throttle body and you will feel a considerable improvement in throttle response and engine power below 2000rpm, now I don't know for a fact that I'm making any more power, but I can tell you that it feels more like I thought an SVTF should and you will enjoy driving the car a lot more.

BBK's headquarters is literally like 5 miles from my house. I just had to say that lol.

I remember when I had my old FC 65mm TB, my stock SVTF TB would actually fit inside the the FC 65mm TB. I wish I took a pic to show it. As for the OP, I have only seen one a normal zetec BBK TB, the outsides of it isn't as smooth as the FC or CFM ones. But it worked perfect like the others. Find someone with a Powerworks SC kit installed. I think some of those kits came with a larger BBK TB. But TurboTom is correct, i liked how everyone ignored him. A bigger TB will not yield HP gains, just better throttle response and a stiffer gas pedal due to the stiffer spring on the new TB. Porting the stock TB would be the more economical move or find one used... |

Okay so resurrecting this tread from the dead because I finally got the BBK TB. I have no way to compare it to the CFM but I am very impressed with the quality and impact the part has on my car.
I wrote this in another thread already but I figured I would throw it in here too. The BBK TB is on ebay for 250 shipped or make an offer. I offered both sellers 200 for it and they both accepted. Not a guarantee that it will be the same for you but if your in the market for one I think it is worth a shot. Ooooor you could support a site sponsor, like CFM, and purchases directly from them. Sooooo CFM continue to make parts for the mk1.

How am I a bad person for buying a quality part from a reputable company and save myself money?

Never said "bad" or " person" in my post. Personally, I'd rather support a company that's makes more than one part for an aging chassis.
