Sooo for an update!
Using the copper strand pieces seemed to work pretty good. You can increase you gap a tad but I think the coils themselves need an upgrade for this kind of change to give better results.
Increasing the gap on these cars (still about -5 here) didn't really give more power/mpg as it seems to lose out on clean burns at WOT as the side of the ground strip on the spark plug gets sooty.
So yes, a larger coil would improve spark output but the cost just isn't there. If you had to replace 1 to 2 COP's for whatever reason, maybe upgrade then.
