Did precision tell you to run a restrictor?

if you have around 65-70psi oil pressure at cold start, -3an feed, -10an return routed correctly then you should not need a oil restrictor on a journal bearing turbo. a journal bearing turbo works just like crank and rod bearings in an engine and uses oil pressure to form a film for the shaft to float on and not contact the bearings. if there is to little pressure and the shaft contacts the bearing it will damage it. if you are getting oil blow by the seals on a journal bearing turbo there is probably another problem. i believe precision uses and internal restrictor on their bb turbos so they are not required on them either but i'm not sure about that.

Correct is internal in DBB, some people in the past had issues blowing seals in either one and as a precaution PTE suggested to some to run restrictors but not to the limit just enough to lower the pressure on high flow pumps, since then they have corrected the design and even the DBB is a different seal.

On my journal bearing precision turbos I've never ran a restrictor both my 4431 and 6266. I've even asked precision web I bought my turbo if I needed to run anything with the oil feed line and they said no.

.065 restricter on Journal bearing, end of story it allows approx 50PSI of oil into the turbo which Journal bearings only need 45psi
