But someone at Ford should have learned how to use Weibull++ before this car came to market.

Both.

And as far as probability curves go, I don't disagree.

I'm sure they probably have a few people who look at Weibull curves, but they may not be the same people who forecasted that this would be an issue.

They aren't doing a great job of containing the issue it seems however.

Actually, they are containing the issue. They send in a receptionist who doesn't provide any updates on the issue but always does so with a smiling face; customers continue to be confronted with a whole host of dealerships that disposition the (this particular) customer complaint with "could not duplicate" or "that's normal". Months go by - quite possibly more than a year depending on when this issue was first reported.

People are trading their cars in, others are trying to address the issue themselves with random results - and the ironic thing is - the assigned receptionist is doing "that-a-boys" and "great community" crap and nothing else other than to take names, VINs and mileage numbers, with a nudge to another (higher) level of mismanagement.

So they are containing the issue rather well if you ask me. Think of the thousands of Focus owners that never engage the internet.
Steering social media channels a responsive, quality minded car company doesn't make.

This however is not containing the issue in the field, that's just trying to keep issues from being reflected on their reports.

Just because they send an ineffective messenger doesn't mean the issues are being resolved.

It wouldn't help to tick off consumers.

We're still here, HornedFrog05! Cory is working on a new project at the moment, so I'll be helping out folks here for a while.

Hey folks...I'm peeved like crazy at the run around and no tangible solution too (aside from schlepping grease on my bump stops at the moment) but let's not take it out on Crystal or the other csr's here. They have a boss just like most other people do. The problem is with the cars and the person incapable (or uncaring) of getting us a fix.

Maybe I'll go punch a ford emblem later or something.

UPDATED

Found it!

Dysan,

In what department did you locate this syringe? I checked the Walmart automotive dept and couldn't find one. Was this gizmo in the hardware aisles?

I found the best way to grease the bump stop is to head to wallmart and pick you up one of these.

It even comes with a little section of clear tubing that you can twist onto the end of the syringe. I took a plastic spoon and scooped up some of the grease I bought from autozone. (its actually a ford motor brand). Raked the grease into the end of the syringe and just kept adding more and packing it in.

Got the front jacked up, Wheel off. Reach up and give that plastic accordian style dust cover a turn left or right and wiggle it off. It just snaps in place.

Next I took a thin long screw driver and carefully inserted it into tip of the bump stomp and pryed it back enough to slide the syringe w/Clear tubing on it so that it would travel along side the strut shaft up deep into the bump stop and squeezed the syringe until I saw some grease come out. Then I gave the bump stop a turn (it will turn in it's mount). This spread the grease all around the area .

All done!. No more clunk! Snap the dust cover back in place.
