I guess it was more vs the focus than ST. You guys can tell me it's ugly, it's under powered, what ever. I know I hate the new hyundais. I driven three on on a regular basis. The elantra has always been in the same class as the focus and I've seen arguments about for days when the new body style came out over the new focus. Don't matter how more under powered it is, how it looks, how cheap it feels, how much road noise it has. It been selling better most of the time better than the focus, and now they have a coupe. Which is something ford has no interest in doing. People have dealt with the lack of a 2 door focus in the regular MK3 but it has really hit home with the release of the ST focus and fiesta.

So as you see this wasn't a performance comparison it was the lack of a coupe. The fact that no matter how much we can ask for a coupe it will never happen.

Lack of a coupe is one reason I'm not rushing down to buy an ST. I find it easier to get in and out of a 2 door. I like the door post to be back farther than the seat. Also do not like hatches, aka a station wagon.
