Keypad issues

I have a 2012 Focus and when I try to unlock the car using the keypad all the lights come on except the inside dome lamps. What I normally have to do is re-lock and then unlock the car a second time for the dome lights to illuminate. I had it at the dealership but it worked fine for them, I seem to have this problem when the car sits for a few hours especially at night when I need the dome lights to come on. The dome lights come on when I use the key to unlock the driver's side door, they just don't respond to the keypad. Any suggestions....am I not doing something right?
