I've been considering it for my GTI, but I need to look into it more. Supposedly 3M guarantees their vinyl for 5 years. I'm more wondering how it holds up to scratches, chips, fading, etc..

You can get some pretty hard wearing stuff. If you have a chip you can just replace the panel instead of wrapping the entire car again. Seems like a pretty good system

it's worth it as long as you use a quality product (like 3M). expensive to have a shop do it, and takes a lot of time and patience to do it yourself. not the end of the world though. a good product shouldn't fade. they can scratch or tear if they get abused, but if applied correctly it will take a lot to do that. atleast it's not your paint though.

It certainly makes sense if you want to 'colour change' a car with good paint. It's a good investment for brand-new cars since it protects the paint underneath too.

for wrapping!

If it were me, I would wrap hood, roof, and trunk black.

But then again, it would be a perfect option if you wanted to have a crazy colored car, green or purple or something, but not destroy the retail value of it!

I would just plastidip the car before I would spend that kind of cash on a wrap.
