I read that report as 750 total sold through mid-January (though that does sound low). Of course, availability wasn't that great during the Fall.

In the Northeast, each dealer around me has at least one (and one large dealer now has 4 in-stock). This dealer is knocking about $1k off MSRP now.

I imagine that the price/manual-only option is contributing, plus we're in the dead of Winter here. I still see discounts/rebates coming in 6-months to a year from now on the ST as time goes on, similar to what happened with the SVT Focus.

I asked my dealer how sales were going, He said they have sold a couple, Mine included. They have had a TB ST2 in the lot since December.

Winter is a tough time to sell a FWD, summer tires car. I think we'll see a big jump in sales as the seasons change.

Generally winter is the better month for FWD cars. I know when I sold cars we would sell more FWD over anything else. But yes the summer tires probably do not help.

The Dodge Neon SRT4 did not sell well. They ended up selling them at a significant discount. Most people do not want a manual transmission car.

I couldn't believe the ST had the "market adjustment" price for those early suckers but those quickly faded as dealers saw the public wasn't scrambling for them. This probably means there's even less of a chance Ford is bringing an RS to america.

Its tough knowing you can buy a V6 Mustang with the performance package that will run high 13s for less. A guy I work with paid 24,500 for a Mazdaspeed 3. Why does the ST cost almost twice what a Focus SE when everything but the springs, transmission, seats and rims are off the shelf mass produced components. The 2.0 turbo motor comes in lower cost versions of the Escape and the Fusion.

Well while it's not all about 1/4 mile performace I'd still take an ST over a mustang (in part if I'm going to buy a Mustang it has to be V8 powered one) since the driving dynamic is different and the Focus has a little more utility but on the other side I can get a nicely equipped WRX for the same price range as an ST and I get AWD and it has a nicely proven aftermarket when it comes to mods.
And like you stated with the MS3 and you have the Genesis coupe in that competitive price range also.
It's a buyers market when it comes to sub $30k perfromance cars so it's a win-win all around and is good for the sporty car market as we're seeing even more cheap performance cars coming out every year.

I cross shopped everything in the ST's price range/market equivalent before I bought my ST, and it was by far the most well rounded car out there, and this is coming from a huge Subaru fanboy. Most refined interior and handling, while still being competitive perfomance wise.

If the ST was AWD this car would be THE car to get based on all of the reasons above, Interior Handling styling

I was looking at a 2012 WRX the wide body version....I love the flared looked but the interior is so garbage.....I use to have an 02 wrx in my early 20's and it was great then when i was a still a kid who liked fast cars and cared little about where i was sitting.

Since then my taste has then been refined and I appreciate the subtle things on the mk3/st interior that make it stand above its competion
