They want your head for the parts mostly - to rebuild the new heads. If you don't want to give up your head - look around on Craigslist for a SOHC that's being parted out. I found one when I needed because I didn't want to give up my original head either.

I worked out a deal, sent them the 'return shipping' box and some $$ for their time to send their head back for me.

I have access to lots of blocks and heads in the JY but the selling the head is not worth it to me as 1- they are cheap rebuilt on the bay and 2- selling a used non rebuilt head is a bad idea anyway

^^^ Actually I was leaning more toward keeping the original head with known good parts and maybe half the miles on the unknown used parts in the new heads. Some shops just throw out the damaged heads.

Yea some I have seen in the JY are not even salvageable, I dont see how ppl continue to run these with the valve dropped till a rod goes out the side of the block and the piston gets wedged in the cooling jacket of the block! Maybe they are likr F it and just "blow them up" cause they know they are going to the JY, sucks cause I would love to get ahold of them before they go there.

I have had good luck using the seller "headsonly" on ebay BUT being there is a new cast head mentioned on here for about $50 more your better off going that route.

No you cannot replace the valve seats by yourself

$225 is valves only, swap over your cam, lifters and rockers (easy to do), the $275 is the complete ready to bolt on head. If you need pistons and/or rods I have some for yours motor if your are damaged.
