Please give us the part# for the clutch pack when you get your invoice. And ask them for more detail on why they replaced it. Thanks!

What I was told today is: "an approximate 14 inch round, half inch thick clutch plate is being replaced. In mid-2012 Ford came out with an improved material for this plate which should provide a smoother operating transmission."
Is future ford doing the work? I'd like info as well.

Yes, Future Ford Roseville. Will post all info I can upon completion. Now it is Friday evening before completion, at the earliest, but that sounded like it was due to backlog. I asked today about oil on the clutch plate, answer was the tech had not said anything, yet. It may not have had this phase of the work order even started yet, hence the Friday PM at earliest finish.

They popped for a rental, got a 2012 Focus SEL hatchback. I think it needs a TCM update also since it is not too smooth off the line.

My dealership takes 2 days to install a software only update, so...

We should probably make a list of dealerships that are willing to fix these transmission problems, since they seem so rare.

Here it is:

Road tested and confirmed the trans slips going into 2nd and 4th gears. Tested for codes and found no codes. Inspected the fluid and found full but also that the trans is leaking from the bellhousing area. Removed the trans and replaced both input seals and the clutch assembly. Reset the trans adaptive strat. Road tested and found OK

And the part numbers:

1 BV6Z*7B546*B clutch assembly
2 AE8Z*1S177*A seal
1 AE8Z*7048*A seal asy--oil
1 AE8Z*7052*A seal asy--oil
1 YS4Z*3N324*AA retainer--bearing
plus 8 nuts total and trans fluid

On the short drive home it seemed fine, way smoother than the SEL rental, also a 2012 with almost the same mileage as mine. The powertrain control module was also reprogrammed.

Had this exact work done a few weeks ago. The car has been driving very smooth ever since. My MPGs dropped a little, but I'll give it time as supposedly there is a break-in period on the new clutches.
