airbag module

I have a 2002 focus SE. My daughter rear ended someone a couple years ago and the car has been sitting since. We are getting so close to getting it back on the road when we came across a possible problem. My husband got a airbag module from the junk yard, but he didn't check to see what was in my car. The module he got is part number 2M5T-14B056-CD but the one that came out of my car is 2M5T-14B056-AD. Will that part work or do we need to take another trip to the junk yard? Also we replaced both airbags. Is there anything else that needs to be done? The seat belts work fine, so we decided not to mess with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I miss my car!

Ok so we went back to the junk yard and after 10 or so cars we finally found the same module out of a focus with no body damage. Put that in, started the car and the airbag light is steady on and no longer flashing. Someone please help. Thank you!!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you might need to get the computer system reset, I believe with Airbag systems, once they fire, the computer logs the info and must be reset once the repair is complete, usually by a qualified tech, airbag systems are not intended to be a DIY job. Not saying they can't be, but because of the potential for injury for incorrect installation.

Just go to a Ford dealer and ask what is involved in replacing the airbag system after an accident, tell them you are trying to get an idea on whether the car is worth putting the repairs into.

You will have to take your vehicle to you local Ford dealer and have it reflashed. Be prepared for other sensors to need replacement. You would be suprised how many sensors, even with a light hit, will show damaged. Remember these are impact sensors. Good Luck.

Seatbelt tensioners may have fired as well, so the system is showing them as not "proper".

Just a "guess", but we've seen this here B4...

Airbags, plus module, plus seat belt tensioners to repair after a collision that fires the safety systems....

The belts will work, but the "pre-tensioner" has fired so it won't do what is supposed to do....

"Safe" but not as safe as designed....

CD AD module

I have a Focus SVT with the same module that you have ending in CD and received one from a reset place ending in AD and was told that since it is reprogrammed if it will plug in it will work.
I emailed Chris at to verify this. He stated that if it will plug in and wsa reprogrammed it will work.
If you need your module reset I would recommend Chris at airbag systems in Allen Tx. After clearing the module he also put in the vehicles information from the VIN that, I heard from other places would cost extra, for free.
I will put the module in this evening and see how it functions.
