Cruise Control problem & VSS question
My cruise control is not working. I can set it and the light would turn on but doesnt hold the speed. I can turn the light off with the brake and if i press resume the green light would turn back on but not gain any speed.
I fixed the wires in my hatch that were causing my third brake light not to work. I did the Cruise control self test and i got 4 lights after pressing the on/acc. 4 lights=VSS. My speedometer still works and even compared the speed on the instrument cluster self test. Both are fine. If a faulty VSS is causing my cruise control not to work, would it cost my speedometer not to work also? |

additional information. Car has 218,000 miles. Transmission was replaced 4000 miles before the cruise control stopped working. Had alternator problem over charging.

So initially, I'd check the connector going to the speed control actuator/servo. Ensure there's no corrosion or bent pins, etc. and everything is visually sound. |

For testing purposes only you could try jumpering VSS from your radio connector straight to the servo. You might also try disconnecting the radio in case it is somehow shorting the signal.
