Hi there. I am in desperate need of help.....
I frive a 2007 Focus and it is the sole means of transportation for myself and my family. Well, today something happened and I need to know what it might be abd how I might fix it.
Backstory:
The oil and fuel filter were changed about 3 weeks ago, spark plugs are probably due for a change, but I believe they were done in December. The car has been having some issues with missing. At first it was not a lot, but yesterday it was greatly increased. I also noticed a ticking that had not been there previously. Well, today, I was driving home from work and it sort of sputtered a little, then like a pop and a chug chug chug chug. thermostat gauge isn't working. I opened the hood and it appears that a terminal in between the spark plugs popped out. I put it back and started the car, it popped again and a spark came out. Help! I dont' have the extra cash to tow it to a mechanic and I have to be able to get to work and to the school to pick up my daughter. If anyone can help. I jnow I am being vague in my description, but I don't really know how to troubleshoot the car...

Many thanks.

Update....
Ok. I didn't post pictures because we figured out what the plug is. It's the valve temperature sensor. I got a replacement for it and installed it, but that did not solve the problem. There seems to be air coming from where the sensor is screwed in. It smells like exhaust and the car seems to be losing compression. My dad seems to think there is a crack in the head, but there is no water leaking, no oil leaking, no water in the oil - nothing that would make me think it was a head gasket. He says that it doesn't sound like a vacuum leak.
The sound the car is making is so loud and rough - the only thing I can compare it to is a lawnmower.
Please help me troubleshoot....We are at a loss.
