I am not going to get in the middle of this as I have learned that talking about oil brands is a lot like talking about religion - too much passion, too much history, too little reliance on facts for anything productive to come of it. What I am going to say is that for anyone who is considering using their car (ST or otherwise) for HPDEs or track days please read my posts here - http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274344
Remember, the SAE (label) viscosity tests stop at 212°. That is well below what your oil will run when on track.

Oil temps measured at the sump over 260° are common place for track day participants. Spot temps will be higher. Viscosity measurement procedures that end at 212° aren't too useful.

I have used M-1 5w20 in all 5 of my previous foci. I use M-1 5w30 in my 04 Yukon Denali started when she had over 160K on it not one problem. I plan on using M-1 in my ST after brake in. I seem to side with Tom on this.

If someone wants to run Mobil 1 5w30 and send in a used oil analysis to see how much it shears, please do so for the sake of data collection. Tom and I both agree about running the more durable oils. |

Did I say M1 5w30? I said M1, How ever I may for safety of my engine I may use a different synthetic oil. but never pennz. Maybe Val syntec.
