Also running S3 with latest Jellybean software. MFT on latest software. Have done a master reset as well.

I'm running 3.51 on both MFT's and jellybean 4.11 on both S3's and it works perfectly. It also worked when I had 3.02 on the focus and when both phones had ICS 4.04

Maybe the carrier makes a difference on the phone, Both of mine are on AT&T,samsung model i747 and I have the official ATT/samsung update to Jellybean.

Galaxy Note 2 here. I get texts just fine, blue tooth audio works well the few times I have used it. Never hooked it up via usb.

If you give the "read message" voice command or hit the send text button, what happens?

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using FF Mobile.

Oddly enough, it will read it. It won't allow me to reply (it did before this latest MFT software update, pre-3.5.1) and if I attempt to manually reply, it will sometimes send but mostly fails.

If I give the read message voice command, I get "messaging not supported". If I hit the listen to message button on the pop-up screen, it reads the message just fine. There is no logical reason for it, MFT is just a hot mess.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using FF Mobile.

I do not have MFT, but my Window's Phones have always worked flawlessly with Sync. Texting, etc. all works.

Just make sure to use the voice recognition software on the phone first (do a search and send a text via voice to make sure. Open an app too.) to make sure it is intialized, and you can do EVERYTHING hands free. Answer texts, you name it.

I have a Nokia Lumia 920 right now, but it also worked with my HTC HD7S, HTC Titan, and Nokia Lumia 900.

Thanks big time for all the responses guys! This forum really is a great place to share info and learn.
I looked at a galaxy s3 today and couldn't believe how much bigger it was compared to ny iphone...then saw the galaxy note! Niether of these phones would fit well in my underseat bag on my mountain bike however. Looks like i will most likely end up with an iphone 5 or maybe a lumia 920 windows based phone. hmmmmm

I also have a Lumia 920 and it works well. I had a Galaxy Note but it did not support the SMS features. MFT will play music from the 920 via USB.

Any suggestions for a smaller sized (more iphone size) android phone? Seems like the latest and greatest are all bigger screens.

Which carrier? Motorola Droid RAZR M at Verizon seems decent. I think it's about the same size as iPhone5... Maybe a tad bigger iirc.
